# About StayLok

StayLok is an independent rental marketplace built for the Chandigarh Tricity. It exists to remove the broker from the middle of a rental that students and young professionals already know how to do themselves: find a place, check it is real, talk to the owner, and move in.

## What StayLok does

StayLok connects two sides of the rental market in Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur:

- **Tenants** — mostly students and early-career professionals — search PGs, hostels, flats, and rooms by budget, type, gender policy, and amenities; shortlist favorites; compare options side by side; and message owners directly over end-to-end-encrypted chat before booking.
- **Owners** list rooms and flats for free, manage booking requests from a dashboard, and can subscribe to Pro or Premium tiers for promoted placement, analytics, and tenant leads.

## The zero-brokerage model

Tenants never pay StayLok a brokerage fee. Traditional brokers in the Tricity typically charge up to one month's rent to place a tenant; StayLok replaces that with direct owner contact and transparent rent/deposit terms shown on every listing. Revenue comes from optional owner subscriptions (Pro/Premium), not from tenant fees.

## Verification

Listings carry a verification badge after review. Property details, photos, rent, deposit, and house rules are shown up front so tenants can trust what they are comparing.

## Coverage

Four cities: Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur — long-stay residential stays only (PGs, hostels, flats, single rooms). StayLok does not handle hotels, commercial property, or sales.

## Who builds it

StayLok is built and operated by a small independent team based in Chandigarh, India. The product ships as iOS and Android apps plus a web app, all backed by one codebase.
